Gadget du jour

This little magic wand came from IKEA, cost less than £3, and is quite amazing. It works on two AA batteries in the handle, has a simple on/off switch, and packs quite a mighty whiz. Worth making a decent cup of hot chocolate for.

Luxury hot chocolate

3/4 cup milk (skimmed is fine)

3 big squares dark chocolate

1 tbsp cocoa

2 tsp sugar (or to taste)

1 tsp vanilla extract

Melt all together in a small saucepan, or in the microwave in a pyrex jug

If you use a saucepan, transfer contents to a jug, or a mug

Whiz with gadget

Enjoy. Mmmmmmm

I haven't been to Ikea for quite a while, but it's usually on my daughter Beccy's itinerary when she visits. As her children love hot choc I think this little gadget might find its way into the bag on our next visit.

It really is a great little thing. Very cheap, not at all dangerous for kids to use, and it actually works! And Christmas at IKEA - what fun!

I already have one of these, it came free with something, I can't remember what but do recall being more tempted by the free gift than the product I was paying for!

Dillon and Mollie love making their hot chocolate with our gizmo.

Vrroom! love it.
I can't go to IKEA too often, because I wind up buying all sorts of little things that I didn't know I needed...and all so inexpensive, too. Then I must find places to keep them.
I love them for inexpensive simple wooden picture frames..they make some that fit even very, very large posters, with plexiglass, rather than glass, so they won't pull down your wall or fall on and kill you. These would cost the earth if custom made with the cheapest moldings.
As I am a former picture-framer-by-trade (after art college-before law school), these impress me especially.

Maybe I will go to IKEA next week and see how the Christmas decking is coming along. Maybe if I just take pictures I won't be tempted! Some chance.

Your foamy hot chocolate recipe looks a lot better than the drink I associate with that electric whisk. The Greek Nescafe (or as they say in Spain, "no es cafe") frappe, a mixture of water, coffee crystals and sugar foamed up with the gadget is just as awful as it sounds.

Well, I didn't think it would work at all, but I was pleasantly surprised. And what you get out of it depends on what you put into it, or what you put it into I suppose!
